Identification Requirements
For all mortgages identification is required to confirm you are who you say you are, and to confirm where you live. Confirmation of your income and bank account is usually needed also.
Each mortgage lender will have slightly different requirements but generally the following will be needed.
2 items to confirm your identification from the list below;
Passport
Full UK/EU Driving Licence (new or old Style)
Provisional Photo Driving Licence
Benefits Book or State Pension Book
Benefits or state pension confirmation letter
Inland Revenue Tax Notification
1 item to confirm your address from the list below;
Bank Statement (less than 3 months old)
Utility bill (less then 3 months old)
Council tax bill for current year
In addition the following may also be required;
Last 3 months wage slips
P60
If self employed your last 2 years finalised accounts or tax returns
Last 3 months bank statements
Most recent Mortgage Statement
If your mortgage is being arranged over the phone then it is recommended to send all documents by recorded delivery, and these documents will be sent back to you by recorded delivery within 48 hours of receipt.
